System/Network Administrator
Accessway.net is a superior web hosting provider serving the database driven business web hosting needs of our customers as well as a large number of internally developed websites. Accessway.net provides a dynamic and stimulating work environment. Our data center consists a complex environment including 50+ Windows and Unix servers running a variety of applications.
The System/Network Administrator will be responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operation of the various systems of our computing infrastructure, including server, workstation, LAN and WAN administration, as well as providing end-user support. The successful applicant will design and modify existing network configuration to maximize efficiency and security, diagnose and resolve all problems affecting network operation, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, and advise and train personnel and departments on proper use of IT resources. The System/Network Administrator must posses a strong background in Windows and Unix/Linux, and be able to work quickly and effectively with little oversight.
DUTIES:
- Work independently to support Windows and Unix/Linux servers and desktop computers.
- Respond to customer support requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routers, print services, e-mail, database and web and ftp services for internal and external clients.
- Ensure secure operation of all servers and services through the use of security and encryption technologies.
- Replace defective hardware on workstations and servers as necessary.
- Work closely with IT staff on system maintenance and development.
- Perform maintenance on user accounts. Add, remove and modify accounts as necessary.
- Maintain integrity of file/database servers and perform recovery when necessary.
- Maintain Postfix and MDaemon email servers including SpamAssassin.
- Research, install and test software updates and patches to supported applications and various operating systems.
- Research new technologies and present recommendations on hardware and software purchases.
- Update equipment inventory for tracking purposes.
- Document and log all changes to system software and configurations.
- Position includes sharing off-hour pager support coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 5 years of experience working with Windows workstations and servers, and at least one variant of Unix/Linux.
- MCSE certification is a plus.
- Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal oversight.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users.
- Ability to work productively individually and in teams and be a good problem solver.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing and other networking concepts.
- Operational experience with networking equipment and cabling. Cisco experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of standard backup infrastructures.
- Administration experience with .Net and ColdFusion Server is a plus.
- Proficient at Windows and Unix/Linux installation, compilation and configuration.
- System-level security procedures, familiarity with cryptography tools and experience maintaining IIS servers for standard Internet services.
- Knowledge of VMWare products is a plus.
- Familiar with routing protocols.
